So you’re renting a motorhome. Of course, no one wants to think about rental insurance when taking in the splendor of the sights, but buying rental insurance before you go could save you thousands, so it’s worth doing. Capture the condition of the vehicle

Before you drive, document the condition of the vehicle. Look for scrapes, dings or breakage on items like lights, wheels and bumpers. Taking photographs is always a good idea, and checking the heater/aircon, mirrors, windshields, radio etc. is also recommended. Raise any issues you find with the owner before you're on the road.

Everyone loves some shade, but different canopies have different mechanisms. Make sure the owner gives you sufficient instructions on how to use it.

Watch out! Size matters

Large vehicles take up more lane space, take longer to stop and have a larger turning radius. Use caution when you get behind the wheel.
