Peer-to-peer motorhome rental insurance

So you’re renting a motorhome. Of course, no one wants to think about rental insurance when taking in the splendor of the sights, but buying rental insurance before you go could save you thousands, so it’s worth doing. At RentalCover.com, we’ve built a global business around giving customers better coverage. These are our top tips to have peace of mind during your trip.

Buy insurance before you go and save

If you don’t want to pay for costly exclusions, buy coverage before you go.

Capture the condition of the vehicle

Before you drive, document the condition of the vehicle. Look for scrapes, dings or breakage on items like lights, wheels and bumpers. Taking photographs is always a good idea, and checking the heater/aircon, mirrors, windshields, radio etc. is also recommended. Raise any issues you find with the owner before you're on the road.

Learn how to use the canopy

Everyone loves some shade, but different canopies have different mechanisms. Make sure the owner gives you sufficient instructions on how to use it.

Watch out! Size matters

Large vehicles take up more lane space, take longer to stop and have a larger turning radius. Use caution when you get behind the wheel.

Review your policy

We have multiple car and motorhome share partners who have vehicles around the world. Our insurance differs for each partner. We encourage you to check your Policy Wording and your booking confirmation for a detailed understanding of how everything works.

What to do in the event of an accident?

  1. Notify the owner of the vehicle;
  2. Contact the sharing platform;
  3. Review your rental contract;
  4. Follow all instructions as you may need approval before you can get repairs or roadside assistance;
  5. Keep receipts for any out of pocket expenses.
