What is the affiliate program?

The RentalCover.com affiliate program gives you the unique opportunity to connect your business to our rental car insurance platform. We pay our affiliates commissions and work together to help bring the mission of transparency and better coverage to the car rental industry. Why join as a RentalCover.com affiliate? How do I join the affiliate program?

RentalCover.com has partnered with Impact, an affiliate management platform. Impact gives you transparent reporting and tools, and handles your commission payments. You will also be able to access updated RentalCover banners, images, logos and content through your Impact account.

To join, create an Impact partner account and apply to the RentalCover program.

Sign up process

  1. Go to https://app.impact.com/advertiser-advertiser-info/RentalCovercom.brand. If you already have an Impact account, sign in and choose Partner.
  2. Create your account. Continue with Google, Apple or email. If you use email, enter your name, mobile number and a password.
  3. Verify your mobile number using the code Impact sends you.
  4. Confirm your account details: country, timezone, currency and account name. Your currency can't be changed after your account is created, so check it carefully. Accept the Partner Program Agreement and choose your email preferences.
  5. Complete your profile checklist. Tell Impact about your business, then add and verify your channels, such as your website or social accounts. Verified channels improve your chances of approval. Add your logo and a short profile description.
  6. Apply to RentalCover. If you signed up through our link, review the RentalCover terms (payout details, schedule and qualified activity) and accept them. If you already had an Impact account, go to Discover, then Brands, search for RentalCover, review our program profile and terms, and select Apply. Add a short note about your audience and answer any questions we ask.
  7. Wait for approval. We review every application within 3-5 business days. You will see the status of your application in Impact and receive an email when we have made a decision.
  8. Once you are approved, create your tracking links.

How do I access my affiliate links?

Once your application is approved, sign in to Impact and use any of these options:

  • Create a link widget: on your dashboard, search for RentalCover, or for a specific RentalCover page, and a link is generated for you. Choose a regular or short link, then select Copy Link.
  • My Brands: go to Manage, then My Brands, then My Brands. Hover over RentalCover and select Copy Link.
  • Banners and creatives: go to Manage, then Brand Creatives. Select a banner or image, open the Tracking Link tab and select Copy Tracking Link.
  • Track by campaign or channel: before copying a link, open Advanced and add a Sub ID, so you can see in your reports which content or channel produced each sale.

All use of links, banners and content must follow the RentalCover affiliate marketing guidelines.

How do I use my links?

Your unique affiliate links are the key to getting credit for referrals and earning commissions. These links contain special tracking information that identifies you when a customer you send to RentalCover.com completes a booking. It's important to use these links correctly wherever you promote RentalCover.com. Here's how you can integrate your links across different platforms:

  • Website integration: Enhance your customer's checkout experience by embedding our provided banner images or text links directly on your website.
  • Email marketing: Include visually appealing banners or straightforward text links in your booking confirmation emails to offer RentalCover.com to your customers.
  • SMS messaging: For effective promotion via text, utilize a URL shortening service like Bitly to create a concise, trackable link.
  • QR codes: At physical rental locations, generate a QR code using a service such as My QR Code. Customers can easily scan this code at your desk to access and purchase RentalCover.com.

How do I verify that my links are working?

Before you publish a link, test it:

  1. Make sure the link was copied directly from Impact and has not been changed or re-shortened by another tool, as this can break tracking.
  2. Open the link in a private or incognito browser window.
  3. Check that it takes you to the RentalCover page you expect.
  4. Check that the link you used matches the one shown in your Impact account. Impact links contain your account ID and the RentalCover program ID.

How can I track my referrals and commissions?

You can view your performance in Impact at any time. Go to Reports, and open the report that shows your actions and earnings. Useful columns include:

  • Action Date: when the referral was recorded.
  • Sale Amount: the value of the sale.
  • Action Earning: the commission you can earn on that sale.
  • Lock Date: when the action becomes final and payable.

New actions are Pending until they are reviewed and confirmed. Once confirmed, the commission is yours. The full terms for your program, including how and when commissions are confirmed, are shown in Impact when you apply.

How do I get paid?

Commissions are paid through Impact. To make sure you are paid on time, set up your payment details when you join:

  1. Verify your mobile number in your Impact profile, which also turns on two-factor authentication. Go to your user profile, then Edit Profile, then Basic Info.
  2. Add your bank account or PayPal details. Go to your user profile, then Settings, then Finance, then Bank Account. The payment methods available depend on your account currency. After you change your bank details, withdrawals are paused for 48 hours.
  3. Complete your tax details. Partners based in the US, or working with US-based brands, must submit an electronic tax form once their yearly earnings reach USD 2,000 in a US tax year. Other partners should confirm their tax information under Settings, then Company Information, then Tax Information.
  4. Choose how you want to be paid out using Autopay. You can withdraw when your balance reaches a threshold (the minimum is USD 10 or the equivalent in your currency) or on a fixed day each month.

Once a commission is confirmed, it is invoiced and paid through Impact according to your program terms. Funds are then withdrawn to your bank account or PayPal according to your Autopay settings.
